Boots on the ground

Over the last few months since we started seeking partners in the work in Honduras, I have had several people tell me they couldn't imagine speaking to groups and doing fundraising.  When we first began this process I wholeheartedly agreed with them on the concept of "fundraising".  It was terrifying!  God has really opened my eyes though, to the fact that He is the one who is providing for our needs.

There are so many wonderful stories in the Bible where God provided for someone's needs so that they could do His work.  The story from Matthew 2, God's own Son comes to mind. When Joseph and Mary discovered they would have to flee Bethlehem and go to Egypt, they probably realized exactly why the Magi brought the gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh.  They were Jesus' first ministry partners!

Two other names that come to mind are Aquila and Priscilla.  They were tent makers just like the apostle Paul, and as a couple living in Corinth, they opened up their home and provided for the needs of Paul and Silas, using their home as a point of outreach in the community to share the gospel of the risen Christ.  They too were used by God to provide for the ministry of Paul and Silas in the work to which God had called them.

What does any of this have to do with boots?  Well,  many people do not have the ability to go and live in foreign lands to share the gospel, and not everyone is called to move to another country.  But God has called all of us to be "on mission" for him.  As a former Army Reservist, I can say that we consider ourselves our partner's "boots on the ground" in Honduras.  Our partners are joining us in this work with their resources and prayers, and we are the extension of our partner's ministry. Through their investment, they too will reap the eternal returns.

So, we are seeking ordinary people who want to partner with us to serve an extraordinary God!  Will you consider partnering with us to reach Honduras for Christ?
